Επιλογή in crisis
State
Developed collaboratively in the scope of the curriculum of the Greek-French Master, in the academic year 2013-2014 (2nd semester), by students and instructors, in Athens School of Fine Arts. Research was conducted in collaboration, also, with Vicki Tselepidou (lawyer and writer) and Adamantia Giannakoura (psychologist, PhD candidate at Harokopion University).
Concept
Eπιλογή in crisis artistically simulates a system in crisis as a structure of interconnected choices. Visitor-player is asked to enter the system and handle the crisis through making choices. The choices are possible only through visitor’s view direction. The system of choices is described based on a directed graph. An underlying measurement mechanism traces the movements of each visitor (e.g. choices, time of stay) which can, also, be processed off-line. Here you can see the trailer of the project. More details about the project and the study here.
Educational approach
Επιλογή in crisis is a hybrid work that lies between an artwork, a game and a measurement tool. Students of the Greek-French Master are trained to work collaboratively, combining elements from different spaces. My role in this project was to teach students how to define and implement the technological structure that handles the graph, the view-choice mechanism and the measurement tool.
Technology
Unity game engine, Oculus Rift DK1.
